Logistics

Arraial d'Ajuda is on the far south of Bahia, separated from Porto Seguro by the Buranhém river. The crossing is part of the charm.

How to get there

By plane

  • Airport: Porto Seguro (BPS)
  • Direct flights from major Brazilian capitals via Latam, Gol, and Azul
  • We recommend booking at least 60 days in advance

From the airport to Pitinga Beach

  • Ferry crossing over the Buranhém river — about 30 to 60 minutes
  • Options: rental car, Uber/taxi + ferry as pedestrian, or pre-booked transfer
  • Pitinga is ~10 minutes from downtown Arraial

Good to know

  • Ferry runs 24 hours — every 30 min from 6 am to midnight, and every 1 hour from midnight to 6 am
  • On high season, lines can reach 1 hour — leave with extra time
  • You can take an Uber to the ferry and another after the crossing, or go with a taxi booked in advance, which does the route directly and is usually the most hassle-free option.
